Jin Yu (Jenny) |
Jin Yu is a Ph.D. candidate in Human-Centered Computing at Georgia Tech, advised by Prof. HyunJoo Oh. Her research lies at the intersection of human-computer interaction, tangible computing, and co-design. She designs tangible and digital toolkits that foster creative expression and active learning, drawing from the tradition of learning through designing, to enable young learners to engage deeply with technology. Her work investigates how physical computing and hands-on making can support middle school students in co-designing technologies, with a particular focus on domains such as wireless communication. Through iterative, design-based research, she has developed a series of toolkits that support youth in ideation, prototyping, and evaluation, deeply engaging them in the co-design of emerging technologies. Jin has published her work in top venues such as CHI, TEI, and IDC, and has received recognition for her contributions to inclusive design practices and constructionist learning. Jin has served as a teaching assistant and guest lecturer in both design and computing courses and is committed to fostering equitable, engaging learning environments that support diverse ways of knowing and making. |
